Having problem responding. Hope 3 don't show up. It is an extractor and not restocked. I had the butt pad replaced as the one it came with was falling apart and was hard as cement. The stock was cleaned and recoiled by the guy who replaced pad. 10-20K is quite a spread. What might the variables be to effect such a difference. I am confident it is all original.

As much as originality is nice, I don't put as much
emphasis on it as others - especially the US market.

Better to have a gun with a good stock that works
than a gun with a worn and weak, oil soaked stock IMHO.

Either way, it is a nice stock and well done.

Variables ?
Ejector, maker, bores, fit, finish, feel,
people's current attitudes etc.

Have a look on some of the web sites - Champlins,
gunsamerica etc to see the spread of prices.

Everything seems to have been said but when I took my H&H 8 bore ball gun to H&H they said it was unnecessary that it had been Nitro proofed as the later (1880s?) guns (rifles?) were strong enough without, as the breech end was more robust

I am sure my Hollis .577 BPE at 12+ lbs would pass Nitro proof but prefer to use BP (or BPEq in the future)

I have a soft spot for I Hollis, having 3 rifles and an earlier Wm Hollis pistol, although most of their stuff was made by the Birmingham trade (W&S Scott especially for doubles)

MotelAlpha, if you can, please post pics and details (calibre/hammer[less] etc) of yours, it sounds very interesting!

I take it you mean the Duke of Connaught and Strathearn, 3rd son of Queen Victoria, onetime Governor General of Canada?

Some provenance!!

My A. Hollis 500/450NE is marked "Rifle Makers for HRH the Duke of Connaught" also.
