Lee Speeds and Antique Arms Show
      #223739 - 16/01/13 07:40 PM

I will be at the Antique Arms Show in Las Vegas this coming weekend, looking for Lee Speeds (there are usually a few of them at this show), meeting collectors, and handing out Lee Speed surveys for the book. If any of you are going to be there, please send me a PM and we'll meet up for a beer.

Always happy to discuss old guns.

I'll post about any items of interest to fans of this forum.

Cheers,
JC5

Right now, the publication date for the LS book is January 2014. Majority of the book is written and laid out, but I need to wrap up some research questions in England before I can call it perfect.

I was diverted for a few months doing the editing and design for a new book on Clabrough shotguns by Larry Shelton. Naturally, I recommend it to anyone interested in old shotguns. Should be available in a couple months.

As for the Antique Arms Show in Las Vegas, set-up day was today. I saw only one Lee Speed, which I have photographed for the book. I helped an east coast friend find a very nice 6.5 Mannlicher sporter by Jeffery, made in 1915. He's a Mannlicher fan, so this was a good find. Westley Richards is here, Holland &Holland, all sorts of vintage doubles.

The author of the Remington Lee book is here too. It's a great show. All you Nitro guys would love it.

Went yesterday and will go again this morning --- there are a lot more modern high end shotguns than rifles - and more antique rifles than shotguns.

Jeff, can you share the name of the publisher so we can get in line for the book when it's available?

I haven't chosen a publisher yet. I may publish it myself, because I will be designing the book myself. I have some firm ideas (stubborn) about how the book needs to look, and I'm not won over by most gun books out there. Don't worry about getting in line or missing it, because I'll make sure everyone here at Nitro knows about it before publication.

If you want to stay I'm loop, feel free to shoot me a PM.

And thanks for the early support...it keeps me going!
