No proofmarks on the barrel just 8x68mms engraved, so I'm guessing it was done in the states. The stock is rosewood, pad is Pachmeyer and the scope is a 3x9 Waffen Frankonia. I've never seen mounts that work like this before either.

Nice rifle and chambered for a great cartridge too!
The scope mounts appear to be German made EAW. (or a copy of the EAW). The EAW swing mounts work very well, so long as they are set up and adjusted correctly.

I've never seen a shroud like this either. Safety is 3 position. all the way up is on safe bolt can be operated, middle is fire and down is safe.

The calibre is a good one and I like the rifle. The wood is very nice.
Thanks for posting. Have you shot it yet?

No I haven't shot it yet. I have to get a set of dies, brass and bullets. I doubt that there is any 8x68s ammo for sale in Alaska.

Very nice, How heavy is the rifle with the stock made from rosewood? I believe rosewood is more dense than walnut.

Very unusual cheek piece and different checkering layout on the forend, which makes it specicial. Very nice.

I´m quite sure that bolt shroud has been made by VOERE. Here is some newer versions from same factory:

A great calibre.
I am not keen on the Euro cheeck piece or the Monty Carlo roll over but the rest of that rifle is bloody nice and I would not knock it back just on the stock bits I am not keen on. The dark colour and grain flow I realy like.
Hornady do dies for the 8X68S a SAUM/Ultra mag shell holder fits. RWS makes brass for them- very strong probably the best brass I have seen- as does Bertram. Just found out most of this myself.
