when is an action strong enough for centerfire insert barrel
      #223292 - 10/01/13 03:30 PM

I have two drillings, one Funk, one Simson, both built around 1935. Funk is 12 bore, Simson is 65mm 16. How does one determine if an action is strong enough for a 7x57 or 8x57 cal. full length insert barrel (einstecklauf)? Both are tight with greener cross bolt and double underbites...Thanks, Steve

common sense here is that such older drillings coming loose with barrel insert over the 22 hornet class. only new made drilling are build for such high power cartridge inserts barrels.
thats the reason the 6x70R Norma was developt! its a round legal on roe deer in germany but with a " black powder" pressure.
