Worth the drive.

Thomas Wild, can't tell you where from.

Would be interesting to know if it is underlever or toplever.

I'd check BP or Nitro, although being hammer gun
more likely BP.

Check that the Rifling is still actually in the barrel !!!

Good luck.

Looked at the barrell flats and it looks like 12-70 850 bar Nirto proof 11/8 shot has crown over NP on right barrell and crown over BV on the left both say 12-70 850 bar and nirto proof flats are also marked R choke on both sides. Tom N

Thomas Wild was/is a maker from Birmingham, over in the West Midlands. I feel they where a best maker. I believe they statred in business as a barrel supplier during the Crimean, if not they where a old company, died with the War to end all wars and revived under a umbrella company I believe. I do not know who the current holder (I think it is A.A. Brown, but ???) is, but if memory serves they are housed with Webley&Scott, Midland, Bonehill, Morrow, Ketland, Bland and so forth.

I rather like there small bore hammer guns. I have owned one and brokered a few.
They trade for 2-4000us, so a Paradox in high condition should make the 6Kus mark.

A s Caprivi said, Birmingham maker.

Subject to all being good, condition, tight etc etc,
6k for a Nitro proofed paradox is OK.

TOM

Is it Toplever or Underlever ?

Tom-

Bring a camera and/or your smartphone and be ready to post photos for us while you're viewing it.
Chances are someone here may be able to comment while you're 'in the moment', likely the service may have value to you as you're considering the purchase.

Definitely worth the drive too...

Cheers
Tinker

Tom

Nice gun

2 things.

1. The T WILD inscribed on the barrels looks
to be fresh or freshly cut IMHO. The edges look
sharp.

2. The gun has been re proofed because it has BAR proof marks which are modern.

I can't see all the old proof marks.

Anyway, good find. Hope you can persuade your wife to change her mind !!!

500 nitro is right reprooved on 12-70. 18.6 bores = .733. Probably a nice gun. If bores are still .733 (and rifled chokes are good) it will be a good shooting gun. With the .733 bores the Holland paradox ammo may not be your best bet.

The current Holland & Holland ammo is .735" diameter and should not be fired in a .733" bore.
