Lion meat
      #2217 - 29/03/03 01:17 AM

I have been listening to tapes of "True at First Light" by Ernest Hemingway, a fictional biography of a safari in the 50's.

In the story he talks about eating lion flesh and says it is quite palatable.

I was wondering if anyone else has ever heard of eating lion meat?

I don't know about African lions but it is said that our cougars are very good to eat.

I read many years ago of an Englishman/ hunter in africa that on shooting a lion demanded that his balls were to be served up for his breakfast, apparently he ate a few of them.
My mate in Idaho has a get together once a year where all the hunting mates bring some different game they have taken for a game feast including mountain lion.
Our own Aboriginals here in the desert areas eat every feral cat thay catch---luv em too.

Folks,
I have no idea about NA animals, but I would strongly advise against eating lion meat at all, as it would be full of many kinds of parasites that would cause you some serious health problems later on........... in fact the same goes for all African predators.

All you have to do is smell a dead lion to be put off eating the damn thing!!!

Cheers

Wouldn't cooking the meat thoroughly kill off all of those little nasties?

I have eaten african lion meat. It was very good. It was in a resterant in southern california. They had 2 times a year the feast of the hunt. The place burned down about 5 years ago . Probably by a PETA radical. All of you that have hunted lion in africa never ate any? Why?
