Mule Deer with my John RIgby 400/350
      #220426 - 28/11/12 02:11 PM

I had posted earlier (see link below) about getting this John Rigby 400/350 single shot. Last year
I took it on a few trips chasing mountain lions, we never treed any good mature toms, only females
& young males, so I had to wait a season to try & get something with it. I had a couple of days open
to chase Mule Deer in Southern Montana this Nov, so I took the Rigby hoping for a close shot
opportunity.

I was able to get a good shot, around 50 yards, on this old Mule Deer buck. He was a big 3x3
& we wanted to get him out of the "gene pool". He was 27" wide, fairly tall with really good mass.
Overall, he was pretty nice for a "management buck". His rack actually looks like a big whitetail,
more than a Mulie. Hopefully I can get the pic to work?

Cowboy - what a wonderful old rifle and a beautiful, albeit management buck. I've had a .450/400 in the safe for 12 months now and have yet to fire a shot through it. I'm hoping to get onto pigs, goats and fallow with it. Maybe sambar if my "life" allows me...

Great effort cowboy! Love that buck.

Nice big body, too. The antlers almost looks like a 'cross'.
