Why would someone ruin a great piece of wood by fusing two pieces together in the middle? He has a few of these on. Is he taking smaller pieces of wood and putting them together to make a larger one or does he think this makes it better?

Don't know the answer to your question, but why can't it be shipped to South Africa?

Probably has a supply of quality 2 piece blanks............With the price of great wood, looking for options.........

Looks good, probably tough enough for up to medium, but of little to no interest to me.

I'd have bought that stock if it was not a two piece.

My guess would be salvaging what they can from 2 higher quality stocks that have been ruined.

I would use it if it was cheaper for a knock about rifle.

+1. Would be good to see them full length. Lovely bits of timber.

I don't think it was done after being cut into stocks but rather a result of grafting the tree while alive. English limb onto Claro tree base or vice a versa. Had a blank like this (English and Claro)show up in a load of stock blanks from Oregon back when I was with C. Sharps custom shop, we just had it hanging on the wall as a curio.
