Looking for info on a Mauser sporter ( date built, model, who's build or other pertenient info). Have not had out of stock and there are no visible markings on receiver.(98 large ring Mauser with stippled receiver. Barrel is marked "Germania Waffenwerk A G Zella - Mehlis" SN 7668 Calibre 6.5 x 55 and "Krupp steel". Was told this was an pre war Anschutz(?). Very nicely finished rifle. Ron

The rifle arrived today a pre Anschutz by the proofs, Ser. #20xx, metal nice with no rust on the outside, barrel needs a good scrubbing.
Can anyone tell me where the actions where sourced from? This one is very nicely finished, numbered # 84 on action flat. --- John303.

I had one such rifle in caliber 9.3X57, which was made in 1943, at a time when I would have thought the German arms industry would be devoted 100% to war production. However, the Scandinavian caliber, like yours in 6.5X55, would seem to indicate that some hunting rifles were still being produced for the Swedish market as a source of hard currency and to offset the cost of importing Swedish iron ore.

Here's mine:

The action used to build mine was not a commercial Mauser action, judging from the shape of the bolt knob, but there were no markings to indicate who the original manufacturer might have been.

The company Anschütz was founded 1856 by Julius Gottfried Anschütz in Zella Mehlis, since 1896 "Germania - Waffenfabrik" was used as company name.

xausa,very nice mauser

this 9,3x57 ammo with lacquered steel cases was made in 1944 so your rifle wasnt the last civil product.
