That's a beautiful rifle. For some reason I love those custom rifles on that model. And the buy now price is less than the cost to customise it, so I would sell off my own mil rifle and never do the job and buy this one, if it was in Australia. But alas.

John, I have exported many guns to Oz over the years.
I have used High Bridge Arms in San Francisco, near exclusively.

There is a Ozzy on the WeatherbyDK forum who I did some work for as well as exported and his group used a expeditor out of Washington state I believe. Sorry I don't remember his name or Tag.

Yes Caprivi, there is a Fraser or Dickson styled Dutch Mannlicher somewhere underneath that metal and wood! I still contend that the DM's make the absolute, most svelte of sporting rifles.

For future info:

Description for Item # 314554942

This is a custom built British-style sporting rifle built on a Hembrug Arsenal 1917 manufactured Model 1895 Steyr-Mannlicher (aka Dutch Mannlicher) barreled action with all matching serial numbers. It was built by my brother, a perfectionist who is never satisfied with anything. It is chambered for the 6.5x53Rmm, which is the rimmed and otherwise identical predecessor to the rimless 6.5x54mm Mannlicher-Schoenauer cartridge (ie, same performance & load data). Its the famous "256 Mannlicher" touted by great hunters like F. C. Selous, Sir Edmund Loder, Sir Alfred Pease, John G. Millais, Maj. R. L. Kennion, P. H. G. Powell-Cotton, Maj. C. H. Stigand and Blayney Percival, all of whom evidently regarded the .256 Mannlicher as their favorite arm.

Note: this is not a Model 95 straight pull Mannlicher, it is a completely different design

Metal work on the barreled action--
The metal work is hand polished and slow rust blued
NECG Masterpiece banded front ramp and bead
NECG Masterpiece adjustable rear island sight
NECG red pad
Dressels steel grip cap
Vacant (no initials) nickel silver oval
Talley barrel band
Small parts fire blued

Stock work--
Completely reshaped from a commercial sporter stock in plain good-grained American black walnut
Ebony forend tip
AcraGlass bedding of action
NECG swivel studs and Blackhawk all metal sling swivels (big upgrade over Michaels)
Recoil crossbolt
Hand rubbed, wet sanded London oil finish

Note 1: The forearm is not checkered - rear grip is checkered
Note 2: The original stock fit around the bolt release was awful (prior stockfitter's job) - a wood patch had to be repaired in this area. It is discernible, but a significant improvement (see last photo).

All in all its a great barreled action (my brother thinks it may be his best metal work) on a functional but not fancy stock that needs checkering on the forearm. But for the metal alone its worth the price that he is asking. If you look at the cost of custom parts and the labor involved in restoring and building a custom sporting rifle, you could not touch a project like this for under $3000.

Started at $2,100.00
Buy bow $2,300

Didn't know that you customized rifles too, Harold. Beautiful work!

That rifle is very nicely 'done'. It is a rifle I'd be happy to hunt with. A lovely rifle.
