Very rare , only a few in production before WWII for civil Mauser caliber 6,5x54 Mauser , 8x51 and sometimes 8,15x46R .

I notice that it is missing the projections at the ejector groove. Could be from a Mod 24 although these are only approx. 6mm shorter then standard mauser.

Configuration of the bolt handle and the knob is not of commercial Oberndorf origin.
Never saw a real Kurz Mauser without the pear shaped bolt knob.

Looks to be Oberndorf commercial, but just with the bottom of the 'pear' flattened. I've seen several Rigby rifles with bolts modified in this way.

On another note, I have a Type B in 9 x 57 with a damaged bolt that won't grasp and extract cartridges. There is an Oberndorf sporter bolt available on ebay or gunbroker at the moment. How can I tell whether it will work with the 9 x 57?

thanks

It may or may not fit, Mckinney. I've purchased bolts and/or bolt bodies that fit all M98's and had others that would only fit some guns. Generally they fit - I don't know how to 'know' ahead of time.

If fitting a bolt to a barreled action that is missing the bolt, the headspace should be checked by a gun smith with the proper tools or knowledge on how to check it.

Thanks Daryl. That's pretty much in line with what I thought. I'll probably buy it. If it doesn't fit this particular Type B it may come in handy another time. You just don't see many genuine Oberndorf sporter bolts for sale.

Hello Folks

I have a Kurz without a bolt. Would someone be able to assist me (as a non french speaking person) in bidding on this item - the first thing being to ask the vendor to carefully measure it?

Mckinney

If the bolt you were considering is the one on Gunbroker #309436946, then maybe we should discuss, I have already bid, but only want it for parts for an "intermediate bolt". What sort of condition is your bolt in, and what is damaged. If you measure the OAL of just the bolt body, an intermediate is 156 mm or 6.14 inches.
