YOUR FIRST ! If you take some time to really learn to use them you will see why they were so popular. Like English SxS and Italian O&U they are classics.

Looks like you made a good deal too!

Funny, when Michael Macintosh passed away last year his widow auctioned his guns. I had read a lot about Model 12īs so I bought his Dads, circa 1948, pretty good condition, barrel perfect, hopefully taking it rabbit shooting next weekend, much more svelt than the Remington 870 I have, looking forward to slam firing it a la Capstick best, Mike

The first time I ever saw a really good gunner firing a M-12 that way was when I was guiding a former Remington pro shooter for ptarmigan. he was using one of my loaner M-12's and he made four lightning quick shots by firing the first and then pumping while holding the trigger and had four birds dead in the air at the same time !

Good buy, bw. Have fun.

In defense of the M870, having 3 empties in the air is only a matter of proper training and having good timing.

Do I understand correcty that you picked up three Model 12's for $1,500.00?

Sounds like a hell of a deal. You know that Hemingway's favorite shotgun was a Model 12. Interesting given the resources including guns that he had available to him.

I have one, a 16 ga. in near-new condition from I think 1958. Have you checked what year(s) yours were manufactured?

I'm with you on the Model 21. Thats my dream shotgun. 28 inch barrels, single trigger, ejectors, 12 ga., kidney-patterned beaver forend, and deep blue/black metal completely free of any embellishments.

The only thing I need to do is pick one out, clear all of the back to school expenses off of my Amex, pay my taxidermy bill, save more for retirement, put two girls through college, find a cheaper way to fly for fun, stop going to Africa all the time...

A few of us in Oz check out one of the used gun sites just to see what is around and naturally looking for something we still NEED.

www.usedguns.com.au

Never seen any listed before however someone has two listed at the moment. Both 12g and $4600 and $4350 respectively. From 1941and 1935.

Go into the what's new section on the top left of the site. They were listed today, 5th September.

Usual caveat - not mine.

Rick

In good condition under $5,000.00 is a great price.

This is a great topic, IMO the model 21 is an ugly, over engineered unbalanced base ball bat, in the UK you can buy them at auction for about GBP1000 (decent condition) but in the USA some guys are paying 5 or 6K USD (or more) for them !! There must be an arbitrage here. I suggest any of you chaps in the US who want one of those things looks in at the UK firearms auctions best, Mike

The only time I ever shot my limit of doves, I was using a Model 12 in 16 gauge.

I shot the tenth one with my last shell, the hundredth one......

Pump guns are not my thing but I do like to see someone who knows what they are doing shoot them. There are a few old timers at the shotgun range I go to that use them. It's great to see an 80 year old step up the cages in 5 stand using a cane and then just clean house with a Model 12.

When I was a young man, an old gunsmith friend of mine had a two barrel set model 21, 12 gau and 405 Winchester. That was the only Model 21 I've ever seen with rifle barrels.
