Shooters and Fishers Party builds in WA

Posted on 26 June 2012 by Content Manager

The Shooters and Fishers Party is rapidly establishing a presence in Western Australia, packing more than 100 people into the venue for the new branch’s formation meeting last weekend.

The meeting was held to elect a steering committee to guide the party towards official registration in the state, which has some of the nation's most onerous restrictions on fishing, firearms, hunting and four-wheel driving.

“Fishos were particularly strongly represented among the people who supported us on Saturday,” Rick Mazza, the SFP’s WA representative, said.

“That reflects how badly we are treated here in WA, where it’s very hard to find anywhere to fish.

“Shooting and other outdoor activities are also heavily restricted and the only way we are going to correct this ridiculous situation is through political action.

"Many people travelled long distances to be there, some driving for over five hours to attend, which was indicative of the commitment."

NSW MLC Robert Borsak attended as a guest speaker, explaining how the SFP had made breakthroughs in NSW including the establishment of the Game Council, putting a moratorium on new marine parks, and now legalising hunting in national parks.

Mr Mazza said it was vital the SFP signs up the 500 members required for registration and pointed to recent wins by the party in NSW, where hunting is to be allowed in national parks and duck shooting reintroduced.

“It’s not just about your vote, it’s about being a member to ensure the SFP can contest the next WA election,” Mazza said. “That’s how we will begin to claw back some rights and privileges for hunters, fishers and outdoors enthusiasts in the west.”

WA to impose five-gun limit on hunters, 10 for target shooters

Royce Wilson by Royce Wilson13 hours ago13 hours ago

Western Australia’s unrelenting assault on shooters continues with news the McGowan Labor Government there is considering imposing limits on the number of firearms a licensee can hold.

The West Australian Farmers Federation has reported in a member communication that the government plans to implement a five-gun limit for recreational shooters (hunters) and a 10-gun limit for competition target shooters.

The move comes as part of plans to establish a special gun licence for primary producers as part of an overhaul of the state’s gun laws — for the worse, from a shooter perspective.

It is understood that corporate licences and collector’s licences would be exempt from the firearm limits, while a primary producer’s licence would have a limit of 10 firearms per property; primary producers could apply to own additional firearms for competition use beyond that.

Firearms with interchangeable calibres (eg the Blaser R8 or the CZ 457) will reportedly count as one firearm for the purposes of the limits, although the additional barrels would still need to be registered.

There is currently no information on whether shooters with more than five guns will be “grandfathered in” or forced to dispose of the excess firearms, and the full details of the proposal have not yet been made public.

Shooters Union president Graham Park blasted the leaked proposal as “a classic case of divide and conquer” and said implementing limits on the number of guns licensed people could own was “ignorant crap”.

“They’re very obviously trying to carve out the primary producer sector to silence opposition from them, so they can then ride roughshod over hunters and target shooters knowing the general public won’t care because it doesn’t affect farmers,” he said.

“It’s a classic case of divide and conquer, and it’s disgusting.”

Mr Park said a limit of five guns was ridiculously low and demanded the proposal be scrapped immediately.

“A lot of our members own more than five .22 rifles, never mind all the other calibres in the gunsafe,” he said.

“We don’t tell golfers how many golf clubs they can have in their bag, we don’t tell motorsports drivers how many cars they can own, and we don’t tell fishers how many fishing knives they can have — so why is it OK to dictate to gun owners how many guns they should have, if they’re being stored securely?

“Once a limit is set, what’s to stop them lowering it again in future? Absolutely nothing.

“It’s ignorant crap, cynically being implemented by people who know perfectly well it won’t positively affect public safety but will get them brownie points with gun-haters and a fearful public.

“If Mr McGowan and Mr Papalia are worried about criminals stealing guns from licensed shooters, then I’d suggest they should have thought of that before they ignored The West Australian newspaper publishing front-page maps showing where gun owners lived.”

All WA Firearm Licences move to a “Transitional Licence” upon the Firearms Act 2024 receiving Accent, till Formally Approved under the new Licensing processes of the New WA Firearms 2024 Act (400.)

Renewal of License means a new Application every (Licensee nominated) 1, 3 or 5-years with a new/full submission/application, submitted before License Expiry. Suspension of in person possession/use within 3 months after expiry, and disqualification and seizure after 3 months of expiry.
WA Police can enter Firearm Licensee’s Property without notification or Warrant.

New/Re-Application requirements:
• Heath Certificate required.
• Firearms Safety & Training Certificate required.
• In Person, Police interview required.
• Nominated specific Land Location/Property Authority, notwithstanding Commissioners review of suitability of location/size/calibre/category, and currently existing approvals on that Property of Authoriser’s License and Others
• Upgraded storage Requirements (Regulations?)

Fit and proper person requirement:

(b) the person’s physical and mental health.
(c) the person’s views, opinions, and attitudes.
(d) the person’s way of living or domestic circumstances.

The Commissioner does not have to disclose “Evidence/Hearsay” to SAT (State Administrative Tribunal) for Refusal of License but reserves the “Right to withdraw that evidence” if the Application/License Refusal is taken to the WA Supreme Court!?

All License/Firearms to be registered to a specific approved Property/Location/Club for a specific Use, as per the current 1973 Act: Cat C/Cat H conditions. Use on multiple locations need multiple properties/locations annotated on License, conditionally approved in real time on Digital/Analogue License for an observing Police Officer to check: Failure to present Identity and Authority to use, results in immediate seizure.

No changes allowed in licensed Firearm appearance as per submitted application/license information (supplied digital photo?). No interchangeable different Rifle Stocks allowed, (Scopes/mounts?) Other than extra Magazines, all other major firearm parts to be surrendered or legally transferred.

Restrictions of “Ammunition Amount Limitations” lawfully held by the Licensee at any one time.

Minimum age Approved Person min 15 years old, Club or supervised person min 12 years old.

Your full WA digital/analogue License/information shared with “others globally” as Commissioner sees fit “In Good Faith” … 383. Authorised use or disclosure of information.

100% ThoughtPolice. 100% ThoughtCrime. 1984 in 2024.

The persons writing, devising such legislation should be behind bars themselves.

Sheer totalitarian stasi stuff. These NWOerists really are coming to disarm the population.

The WA legislation must be resisted nationwide. Else the cancer might spread nationwide.

Have WAs firearms owners woken up yet?

Borrowed from another thread on what is happening in Canada.

Does anyone seriously believe that this is real news?

A problem is when faced with sheer draconian legal changes the average person just shuts down their mind. They can't accept reality. But one day when the Stasi bangs on their door, they scream, "This is outrageous! How did people allow this happen! People must do something!"

Some of this sounds mightily like a "social credit" system to me, but only for law abiding firearms owners. But they are only the current target of the day. It will spread.

Are there any mass marches, demonstrations being conducted in WA. Shut down the city. Again and again and again.

It would be interesting to see how the CCP loving WA govt responds. Social credit financial lockouts?

I spoke to Lapua this week.

That "fit and proper person" test. You need to specify your relationship, wife, girlfriends, husbands, boyfriends. Current and previous. And how they ended. The cops may contact them to verify.

No doubt your opinions, political views, social media activity might be examined. If targeted, no doubt about it, Said anything a wokel might call racist, misogynist, homophobic, anything "First Nations Commissars" might think is anti "first nations". Anything the ThoughtPolice thinks is Hate Speech.

Your firearms will be "registered" to particular properties and clubs. Your firearms can only be used at those places where it is registered for use. When you remove your firearms from your safe, you must register this online in a database. And take it no where else. Then re-register it when you return it to the safe. One wonders the Stasi don't require a GPS tracker on every firearm?

ABSOLUTE BIG BROTHER STUFF.

Ian guessing this is the worst firearms legislation in the world, excepting complete bans.
