a no frills hunting knife

Here is a no frills hunting knife
i recently got done.

the blade is made out of 8" AeB-l
and the scales from Kiaat.

and by the way... my picture taking skills suck!

Looks pretty good to me. Does that angle in the blade near the handle have a purpose?

RSK that is a nice looking knife. It looks to be very functional.

Please excuse my ignorance but what type of wood is Kiaat?

Kamilaroi: the steel is made in sweden, here is some more info on it.

Paul: if you mean the little notch att the back of the blade it makes it
easier to use a sharpening stone att the very end of the blade... and also i think it looks pretty good.

yes, that design would allow you to sharpen right to the end. I've seen a similar thing combined with a rounded recess for locating the index finger.

BTW,'World Woods in Colour' by William A. Lincoln lists Pterocarpus angolensis first under the name muninga and also offers mninga (Tanzania), ambila (Mozambique) and kajathout (RSA) as well as kiaat and mukwa.

Maybe here in skandinavia lives slicker skinners because it`s very seldom when you see here longer blades than 4". And 3" is very ordinary.
