Army & Navy .300 Rook
      #212084 - 05/07/12 05:15 AM

Latest rook rifle to come home to roost.
Quite a nice little rifle although the action has been blacked.
The wood is beautiful and shaped much like an H&H Royal with the cheekpiece which is not too common to see on a rook.

Exceptional quality for an Army and Navy rifle - must have been a special order. Have you checked what year it was made?

Very nice indeed.

Looks more English than Belgium to me,
what are your thoughts ?

Used to have a top lever ejector Rook rifle
but yours is far nicer.

I really like the 300 Rook calibre.

These were made by Webley for the trade.
As far as I know, Webley made the hammerless rooks for H&H also.

Huvius

I agree.

Note sure the Belgians made Toplever hammerless Rook Rifles.
Can't remember but it isn't something I did a lot of research into but remember a fair few of the underlever hammer one's were Belgian.

Very nice, what is the condition of the bore? Aside from the engraving pattern on the sides of the action it looks almost identical to my Royal, mine has an old set of german scope mounts dovetailed into the barrel. Mine started life as a .295 but was relined in England in the 60s to a 22 Hornet.

It is the 300 Rook.
What H&H called the 295 I think.
The bore is a little rough toward the breech but gets better downstream so it should shoot well I expect.

OK thanks. Will have to look it up to see what the case looks like, ballistics etc.
