Saw a Letterman show a couple of weeks ago. Probably a couple months ago for our American members.

Madonna said without any hesitation that one of the best things of her living in England was the shooting. Going out into the country to shoots after pheasand or grouse.

I understand she shoots a Holland & Holland.

She did say one of the things she did enjoy the most was the traditional dressing up though.

But at least without any "shame" or hiding the fact she broadcast she enjoys hunting, shooting and killing game. And eating it afterwards.

We need more of the celebrities that hunt and shoot to come out and stop treating the most tradtional and historic form of sport as if it is wrong or distasteful. I am certain quite a few impressionable persons would have had their views shifted at least a little by Madonnas comments.


Now what I would LOVE to find is a photo of Madonna shooting. For the promotion value. Perhaps establish a gallery of celebrities hunting and shooting.

Send me any photos or links to them that you find.

I'm not so sure I would take Madonna activites as an endorsement.

She tends to do things for the shock effect without being truely dedicated. I would hate to think the Spears-Aguilara kiss was real.

Dame Kiri triggers gun drama

Dramatic entrances are the stock-in-trade of the opera singer Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, but the flap caused by her arrival at a Glasgow hotel must have surprised even her.

The soprano unwittingly spread consternation among staff at the Holiday Inn when she asked to be directed to the hotel's "gun store", where she would like to store her firearms during her stay.

Even if Glasgow was recently identified as the "murder capital" of Britain, its hotels are not normally asked by guests to store guns.

The manager told Dame Kiri, 59, that he would have to contact the police to let them know there were firearms on the premises, and two officers arrived quickly. They found the singer and her companion had two shotguns with them, which they planned to use on a Scottish shooting holiday.

In other parts of the world, a guest who asks for the gun store would not be regarded as having made a strange request. But Dame Kiri was told that very few urban hotels in Britain offered the service. The police checked her firearms licence, and when they found everything was in order asked her to accompany them to a nearby police station.

She deposited the shotguns there for safekeeping and, after breakfast at the hotel on Wednesday, returned to the station to collect them. Dame Kiri's agent said she was now enjoying a shooting break in the Scottish hills.

An enthusiastic country sportswoman, and an expert clay pigeon shooter, she has frequented a shooting school at Gleneagles Hotel in the past. A member of staff yesterday described her as "very good shot".

I'm thinking of a Safari tent in Tanzania with the sounds of a Lion roaring in the background. A Leopard skin throw rug on the floor and Madonna, in Black Silk pajamas, sitting on the cot cleaning my 8 Bore.

Of course you are right. I never see why a majority of people takes so much notice of celebrities, actors and musicians. Especially when it comes to politics. Because many of these people are really quite abnormal and weird!

But many people do. And if a few hundred thousand teeny-boppers heard comments like that and thought "maybe hunting and shooting" isn't so bad after all" or "could there be something positive to hunting and shooting after all?", then we are ahead.

That's why I think a gallery of photos of Grand Prix drivers on safari (yes some of them do), musicians shooting grouse, actors hunting, politicians shooting clays etc or even just positive comments from them is a great resource, especially to push to media and schools.

Thanks for the Dame Kiri article. Perfect.

Stupid hotel! Usually I just carry my gun case into the hotels and stick it in the wardrobe and hope for the best. If it had been "joe blow" instead of someone famous my guess the cops would not have been so helpful. But typical jerks, there main objective was checking stupid pieces of paper.

My guess is your 8-bore is manually hand cocked. But with one hand or two?

It can be cocked manually with either one or two hands. It also has a Large Butt to help control recoil. 24" Barrels.

I don't care for the Leg o Mutton cases, that some Australians like, to put it in.

Well its like this........many years ago it took two hands to control it....now it only takes one hand to do the same......the question is "do you think he`s getting stronger" hhhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
