Anyone using a 'netbook' or small laptop?
      #211292 - 21/06/12 11:57 PM

Was looking at small laptops recently for travelling. The approx 10 inch (diagonally) screen size ones or there abouts.

They seem damn good value compared to these tablets that are the fashion now, often about half price, yet actually useful.

Who is using what, models etc, and what features are essential etc?

Thanks for the comment.

Since looking at the netbooks, and comparing to my existing laptop I thought they aren't bad. Then saw an advertisement of new laptops and realised new full sized laptops have up to four times the RAM my existing one does, so perhaps 16x a net book.

Still they are cheapish and portable in comparison. My laptop has a 17" screen.

John
I am using an IBM THINKPAD---its o.k. --but 2 b honest..not that impressed with this one..its now 2 yrs old..but..honestly feel the dell's I have had in the past are better...have another at me house..not impressed with that one either...

Actually thinking of getting an IPAD 2--used the old ones and they work well...not for everyday use..but for travel...

Plan to upgrade my laptop soon..but have not decided on brand or model yet..

I use a Dell E4200 for work. Small and thin, 12in screen but full size keyboard, 1kg, fits in a hotel room safe, plugs into a docking station and use twin screens and separate keyboard for the desk. Had it for a while and have been impressed.

Well my normal laptop is temporarily out of action, so while ordering a new transformer and replacement battery had a look at the netbooks but decided to buy a slightly better ASUS ultrabook. Slightly bigger but not being phased out like the netbooks and slightly more powerful for the same sort of price. However after buying a DVD drive, and some software, the total price still hurt.

Will use it mainly for travel.
