Just got him on cam tonight

I saw him fully exposed looking good at first,then the race was on to get my cam out of the pack.







Then he followed the hind and calf out,bit of fun was had by me.

Ben its a Sambar Deer, with antlers around 24"/60cm?

A healthy lookin, big bodied animal!

Is he the one you new was there but had trouble finding mate ?.

Is there three animals in the last photo ?.

Can see you were in a hurry as it doesn't have your normal polish.

We had a American that like this who lived with the bears in Alaska... Notice I said,"we had", past tense.

As you know you get at least 10 rear end photos for every good front end one with wild animals.

Good stuff, is this the stag you have been after for years?

Neale you are right mate but read the line under that third pic.
This stag is over the other estimates and from the downhill pic angles it changes the idea of length.Gone are the days of shoot and measure after.
I saw him side on at first,threw the binos up and thought 'gee he`s alright' then as said it was a race to get my camera out as there was only a very small window in the cover.
I was heading into a spot across a face and it was easier for the cam to be in the pack instead of my claw otherwise better angles of him in the open patch would be on here.
There is no polish on the pics as they were taken on an East fall after 5pm....sfa light for polished pics,besides sambar stags dont often give you time for that.
Someone would be happy to take him,there are a lot of sausages in that frame.

Cheers, Homer. I know Gryph hunts both species, and I just couldn't quite tell (very limited knowledge on the subject).

I actually rumbled them out of the same gully head twice yesterday.I was only 20 metres from them in heavy wattle regrowth that took me 45 minutes to travel 100 m`s, then as I made my way around a large berry clump amongst the wattles I got the HONK! and I saw the hind standing for one second.
She came back calling three times 30-40 mins later for her calf,the stag? haha he won! Fark all I wanted to do was take his photo,well perhaps if he is what I think he is maybe a 7mm gift as well.

Its 5am here and the lads will be turning up shortly to have a hunt this morning,we are going to another place though.
