      #209953 - 03/06/12 04:52 PM

Hi Gentleman,

I have an question:

- Witch Hunting Magazines did you have in Australia?
(Name and Publisher please)

- Witch are good and witch are not good?
(And "why" if it is possible)

Thank you.

Hi Jaguarhunter.

I saw your query when you posted it. I am putting together for you a nice comprehensive list and will post it here soon. Maybe also some other people can make comments on the pros and cons on the magazines. I will send you mine by PM.

The only hunting magazine I subscribe to is Sports Afield, and that's American. There really is a lot of trash in Australian hunting magazines. Some (most) are really not very classy at all. Punctuation, spelling and grammar don't seem to matter in most instances. In the past I have written a bit for Sporting Shooter (as has John), and perhaps that is the best one still in terms of quality. However, for our particular interests, there is a new one that comes out a few times a year, which isn't too bad. Is it called International Trophy Hunter? Both these magazines that I have mentioned, whilst they still have some of the problems I mentioned above, are my pick of the Australian options. Many Australians would disagree with my concern over what I perceive to be a quality issue in comparing them to Sports Afield, and so be it.

The only one I buy now is Guns & Game. Their testing of firearms and scopes seems to be believable. Some of the others are just rubbish. Don't buy the American ones any more, too expensive, plus most of the gear is unobtainable here in Australia.
