Autumn arrival
      #205493 - 19/03/12 01:19 PM

A big fog here down on the creek flats this morn made it a change from summer gone and a very heavy dew also.
I found this dragonfly`s overnight camp and went back home for a camera to take a pic or two.

Too cool!

Macro is amazing, remember seeing frost on rusty barbed wire once. Boy howdy!

But heck, i didnt even realise that insects got dew on them like that.
As others have said, amazing pics!

I have to let you members down in telling you all that its not a macro shot,it was taken from 2 metres away....with what?

I keep that to myself at this stage.

Gryph

Interesting that in one of the UK papers recently were a whole load of photos of flys etc during rain storms to show what happens (their may have been some with dew on them as well). Your photos are up there with the best of those.

I'd love to see it first fly when all the water leaves his wings - that is if he does fly like that and not wait for it to dry / evaporate.

Nigel that would have been THE moment when it first shook it wings to rid itself of the dew drops,as it was I waited till the sun started to shine a bit more through a big red gum it was in the shadow of and couldnt be stuffed waiting much longer as funny enough the mozzies were ureal and that was in the paddock!

JH we may have had a light one down on the flats where it shows up on the laying down long dry summer feed first due ti the insulation factor..i think our ground is still too warm yet.

I was surprised as it didn't feel cold enough.

The bucks in the bucks paddock were busy klick klacking away though.
