Had to go to one of our other blocks to get ready for work tomorrow.
Took the 8x68 with me for a run as the 9.3's have been getting all the action.
40 deg's here today so I went for a walk along a swamp hoping to catch some pigs sleeping.
Here is the swamp.

Shot a fat little boar as he jumped up with a 220 grain Hornady. Hit him behind the "shield" and found the bullet where the neck meets the head. Funny thing is that the bullet never entered the chest cavity but all the lungs and heart were perforated from bone fragments.
Here is where the boar jumped from.

This is the recovered bullet.

Shot this little billy on the way home for dogs meat. Viking338 and I looked for these goats a couple of times last week but couldn't find them.

Out and about with gun in hand in that country would indeed be an enjoyable day. Any sign of serpents?

Don't think you would see them until you stood on them with the long grass.
Fine line between sneaking along and making enough noise to alert the snakes.

That is 40 degree's C. It is bloody hot when working in it.
The hardest thing is picking what rifle to use.

Nasty hot. Hopefully, some day, I'll help pick one. 104F is 40C. 20C is quite comfortable = 68F - thin T-shirt weather here.

Neale that recoverd bullet looks in good nik, more than I can say about the mutalated one next to it. That bullet would of hit her at a fair speed too.
The more I see of you 8X68s the more I like it.

The shot was only at about 40 yards so still over 2800 fps I would guess.
You are right, the one on the left could be fired again.

Fatboy,
Mate of mine recently got a Krico in this caliber Hopefully I'll get to do some load developement for it soon, once the dies turn up..
Heavier projectiles will be the go up here for buff / scrub cattle, so I'm wondering if you have any loads for the 250 gr Woodleigh
Also any for the 170 gr Hydro?
Thanks spinna

 By fatboy404 at 2012-01-15
The second boar got it in the same place but with a 170 grain Hydro at 3220 fps and it came out his eye.
