Thanks Daryl,

This hind and her calf were especially hard to photograph due to the amount of sticks,branches,leaves and obstructions in the way of the lens.
And to consider that being the tigers main prey and the pic showing cover as is often in India one must think " what a supreme predator is the tiger"
For not only capturing the Sambar but in these sorts of trying fields.Caps off to the tiger!
Us mere humans sit back from a distance with rifle,bow or camera!

Hiding away. And many people especially if not hunters could walk right past it without noticing.

It looks alert, probably due sensing something is out there, but was it feeding on the reeds there?

John if you have a second look at all three pics you will see she has a gob full of the water weeds,did you notice her calf also?

Thought I would throw this ordinary pic up as it illustrates her calf`s size. A nice sight with the setting sun`s light on the water. I am hoping the wind is right for a long stalk into the same place tonight to try and catch her closer.

No I didn't see the calf. On the right side of her in the first two photos?

Yes I see the water weeds now in her mouth. Should have looked closer before.

Its important to scan any pics when taking them..often there is an unseen deer in the background as well though not in these pics.
