DR Scope mounts
      #194491 - 22/11/11 01:04 PM

I am looking for some recommendations on a quick detach scope mounting system for a DR using Bob's top ribs. I imagine there is a thread somewhere on the subject but I can't seem to find it. I will also want a folding leaf sight as well. I would like for the bases to be integral to the rib. I like the looks of the Talley quick detach rings.--Bill

Recknagel, Recknagel, Recknagel.

You can buy the bases and 'Cut Into' to the rib and once Blued, you wouldn't know that it was from a different source. IMHO.

Jeff,
Can you tell me please, how deep does the dovetailed variety have to be sunk into the rib? I need to know so I can figure out how much the rib needs to extend above the barrels at the location of the rear mount. Thanks, Bob

Hi Birdhunter50,

I am sorry that I can not give you an exact measurement as I never done it myself but it isn't to much. May I suggest that you speak to one of the Cabella's and ask to see a Merkel as they have them mostly fitted with them. As an old Imperial boy I would say about 1/16" - 3/32" give or take as it is then fastened by way of small screws.

Cheers,

Jeff Gray

Bill
Look at my 20ga DR build thread.
If the rib is still off the gun my smith can do these on your rib.

PS thread is in the paradox forum.

Jeff,
Thank you for your advice. I have looked at the Recknagel catalog and there are lots of options. Would you please PM me or e-mail me directly at bdshipp@msn.com. I am looking for a specific recommendation on model. If you have done the research, it would save me a lot of time. I will be using Birdhunter50's top rib and it is not on the barrels as yet.
Thank you.-----------Bill
