My catch
      #194427 - 22/11/11 04:30 AM

Hello, I have not known where to put this thread, it is to put some pictures of my meager catches throughout the hunting season in my country. I hunt without a dog, and I usually hunt doves, rabbit and partridge, because lately I have not seen a hare. Hope you like the pictures, and probably will pull up a smile thinking about how dwindling catches can make someone happy like me, but it is. I use a shotgun Erbi brand side by side, and 32 gram cartridge and pellets of No. 8. I'm not a great shooter, but always with a folded piece.

Regards,

Oscar

I swear this is for another day but the hunting is the same, the car also and the shotgun

This day I brought down two partridges, but the second, though I saw him fall, I failed to find it. I missed having a dog that day.

My wife is a great cook, she cooked and marinated partridge. It was scrumptious.

And the last capture:

I have another partridge in the freezer, so if you come to Spain, my wife can cook, but you two are going to play a little hehe. The truth is that the partridge was exquisite.

It is not the size of the catch but the whole time getting it that is very important..you cannot have any joy in going to the shop and buying the birds instead of hunting them.
A q`s, does anyone else have an idea that the rabbit is carrying myxo?

Yes it has the closed/gummed up eyes.

Is myxomatosis common/present in Europe?

I wouldn't eat a mymo rabbit.

Oscar,

Small game hunting is great fun, and nothing wrong with a small bag from a "walk with the gun".

The mainstay of my hunting, at home, is small game. Pigeons, hare, rabbit, duck, foxes, crows and the like.

Thanks for posting.

Hello, I see that you are debating whether one of the rabbits have myxomatosis, I will clarify that no, but when placed in the ground to eviscerated filled his eyes one of the earth and it certainly seems to have bonded closed by bleary . Long time no see a rabbit infected with myxomatosis in the area where I practice hunting.

I've never seen it in BC or Ontario, either and hunted bunnies all my childhood in Southern Ontario. The cottontails there ran the 7 year cycle, but never saw sick ones, only 'fast' ones.

Here, in BC, we head shoot snowshoe hares with our flintlock and caplock rifles, but in Ontario, I'd never shot one with a rifle - always running too fast - we only used shotguns.

I always use shotgun, lately the shotgun side by side you see in the photographs, but before I used a semiautomatic shotgun Benelli SL-121, although recently optics swing a lot and I take her to review.
