So - .552" calibre using a necked .600 Nitro case?

What does 538 mean after the .600 in the .600/538 designation?

If 538 is bore size, then the rifling is .007" deep per side.

700 meters per second - for me, comes out to 2,290fps?
I make that at 8,409fpe. V x V x BULLET wgt.in gr. divided by the constant 450240.

I guess a person could always ask why. Of course, that's the beauty of the capitalist system, if you build it, sell it and make money, that's good business.

This gun makes just a bit less FPE than BigDogs 2 bore muzleloader that Steven Zihn built him, provided BigDog gets 1,050fps for velocity with the 3,500gr. ball.

first round is the 600/538 mega magnum, second 600 NE and third 416 rigby
I would not say its based on the 600 ne brass, looks like 50 bmg brass to me.

First off, I have fired 720 gr bullets at 1800 fps in a nine pound rifle, and I never want to do it again. I've also fired bolt action 50 bmg rifles in comfort, but they had artillery-style muzzle brakes and weighed over 20 pounds. Neither would make a pleasing hunting rifle, in my opinion.

The choice of the constant by which we divide in the energy calculation differs, depending on your source. The constant is used to convert from grains to pounds (a measure of weight), and simultaneously from weight to mass. The discrepancy is attributed to the gravitational acceleration due to gravity, which varies depending on location on the surface of Earth. The commonly used “average” acceleration is g = 32.1737 ft/s^2, for a constant of 450,432 (the formula is E = (1/2)mv^2, so the constant is 2 x 7000 x 32.1737). But ammunition makers often use 32.163 f/s^2 (giving a constant of 450,282). I have seen others (such as 450,420, 450,425, and 450,240). I would be hard-pressed to say any particular one is correct and some other is wrong.

This is similar to the Woodleigh 530 and 550 in power / bullet weight except it seems to be a bit shorter case.

And I really don't want to fire those again.

Perhaps that middle one is a .577 Nitro?
Really doesn't matter one way or the other.

Lancaster, what does - 600/538 mean? 600 / 538 ?

Done that as well.
Being left handed that M17/P14 safety took a lot of skin off my left thumb with each shot.
Geoff thought it was funny.

It's the only gun I have ever handed back after two shots !!!

Yes, Geoff and his "visitor" loads are quite funny - in his eyes LOL

I think its made for Hambrusch super magnum mauser action in 700 NE as another choice.

compare the rim of the 700 NE and the 50 BMG, they are very close.

I agree

With the 416Rigby looking small compared to the new round, there is no way I want to shoot the new round unless it is in very heavy rifle with a good muzzle break.

Usually, a .600 case necked down to .538. No idea here though or what ".600" case is being referred to. The case is rimless though.

Doing a search for "megamagnum" finds a completely different product except for this NE page and the ferlach page.
