Fallow deer hunting
      #194172 - 20/11/11 06:32 AM

Today I was out hunting with 2 friends. We have plenty of Fallow deer and some Wild boars, we are also supposed to hunt a female Moose and a calf in this area. We hunted with 3 dogs, ti was 7 C, rather hot for this time a year, sunny so it was a beatiful day. The dogs followed Fallow deer and Wild boar, at the end I shot a female Fallow deer. Nice and fat for the freezer. /Staffan

Congratulations Staffan, on a successful hunt with your double rifle.
Please excuse my rude fellow Australian It doesn't matter what calibre/bullet/rifle you used, the proof of it's effectiveness is on the ground at your feet.
I am often asked " What is the best gun for pigs/deer/goat/fox......etc ? " and I just say " The one you have in your hand at the time "
If I carry an adequate calibre for what ever I may encounter, then I'll never be undergunned.

Cheers,
Tony

Ha ha, 7 C is "rather hot", I'm worried for Christine when we visit, whom thinks 13 C is too cold to stand outside for more than a few minutes ...

Good stuff on the venison and hunt. Congratulations.

Itīs a thread about this DR, Itīs made in Belgium. Demarteau DR from 1966. 9,3x74R. Zeiss 1,1x4 Varipoint in claw mount. Oryx 232 gn. Itīs a nice wellshooting DR, my favourite rifle, so I use it a lot. This wednesday we had a guy from Browning in Belgium hunting with us, he said he would try to find out more information. I know some, there are several Demarteu but itīs harder to get information about this Demarteau, Jeanne Demarteau. I have the original scope, but I let a gunsmith change to a more useful when I bought it some years ago. //Staffan

A good rifle and bullet for a fallow or any lighter/medium deer.
