Barrel contour of Ruger no. 1 375 HH
      #19187 - 13/09/04 09:34 PM

Does anyone know if the barrel contour of this gun has changed over time? The present model is advertised with a "heavy barrel" but I have seen pictures of older guns with "medium-heavy contour". If so, which type do you prefer?

I have a 1972 vintage No.1-H in .375 and just got a new 1-H in .405 Winchester. Barrel contour is the same, but there is a slight difference between the two in the shape of the action, specifically where the forend fits against the small extension at the lower front of the action body. Other than that, either forend would fit either barrel. I don't know when the action was changed, or why.

The only change in barrel contour has been in the Model 77 big bore safari rifle..the new one are a smaller contour...The no.1s are the same..
