Colt Government Model #240123-C Made 1950

Here's a super nice Commerical Colt Government Model .45ACP made in 1950 I recently acquired. It's as close to mint as a 61 year old pistol can possibly be. A treasure.

Enjoy,

Curl

Very nice Curl. Good find. It looks virtualy unused.

Years ago (70's) when shooting IPCS with my 4" M29 (Keith's heavy special loads), I decided to try a M1911 Colt.

My first time using it, a pimp gun - nickle plated - with hardball, I jumped from high C to a top 10 A shooter - 120 shooters. I owned a M1911 soon after that, just as you're shown above. Love that gun. Sold it about 1995, after quitting shooting IPSC styled combat too many race guns.

That 1911 is a wonderful tool for fast and sometimes fancy shooting.

Another winner !
Man that one looks mint ! Love the Coltwood grips.Once again wise investment,Colts and Lugers-especially high condition ones like those, will hold up just fine when most other investments (except gold) are dropping like rocks.

G'Day Fella's,

Thank you Curl, for sharing all of these images of your latest Pride and Joy!
Those truly are, classic lines and in such fine condition!!!

As I've probably said here before, up until some slimy political animal, deemed myself and a heap of other Law Abiding Australians unfit to own these, I owned two!
They were both in .45 ACP, a Combat Commando and a Tactical Elite! It's about this time I say FJWH!!!

Doh!

Nice 45. Do you know if this model has the Swartz safety? I don't believe your '31 model does.

No Swartz safety on this one. It's just like all 1911's up to the Series '80. It was with the Series 80 that Colt incorporated a firing pin blocking safety mechanism.
