Rigby date?
      #190155 - 18/09/11 04:46 PM

My new to me Rigby arrived yesterday. I'm trying to get an idea of when it was made. I've asked Rigby and have been told that they haven't delved into the volumes that this rifle is listed in. Anyone know a date for a rifle that is close in number? Rigby serial no. 4666 (Mauser No. 9314). Thanks for any help.

Accoeding to Jon Speed's book "Mauser - Original Oberndorf Sporting Rifles", pages 224 and 434, the Mauser action #9314 was made in late 1904 to early 1905. Rigby finally sold the completed rifle #4666 1918-1920.
