A shot with the camera ,no!

I could have had him cold many times Staffan if I had chosen to do so.There were plenty of shoulder kill shots offered at times.A head shot is never out of the question either if it warrants it.

So how much distance from your residence to the Stag area where you obtain these fine photos?

You are indeed a fortunate man.

20 minutes drive 1.5 K walk.

I had a great encounter with two spikeys, two hinds one calf and a stag too. The calf was exercising by running around all over and I thought "shit if it comes down my game trail I was set up on through the berries it will run right under the fukn tripod haha"

I initially saw antler tips ahead of me as I tried to sneak through the berries. ...ferk!
Tripod legs being extended amongst berry canes without noise was tough.Movement aplenty as they fed around with the stag sniffing the hinds with arfa!
The stag eventually sussed and saw my shape and came up to 10 yard`s from me on the other side of the berry canes and stared intently at me through the berry screen.Focusing was impossible and here I have a reasonable stag 10 yards away and I cant get the cam on him properly.... talk about spew!
He chased the spikeys away several times with sudden forward movements culminating with a shuddering "front feet together sudden stop It read as 'f##k right off you germ'
The spikeys frigged about rubbing to my left under weeping tree branches at a measly 8 yards and I couldnt believe that they didnt scent me.One eventually came out of the thick crap and at 6-7 yards sussed me and bolted but never honked,I never got a pic as I was waiting for the bull to show through my tiny spy hole in the berries with the cam aimed the other way. I reckon a faint bull pic beats a good spikey pic haha.
I watched the mob for prob 15 mins and it was an extremely exciting encounter.

The distance has now been sussed as at 8 yards instead of 10.

Lovely photos Gryph of a ripper stag. Compared to the couple I've decked, he would have copped it for sure! Well done.

Successful? Last three trips, this morning was a quick walk in and out..NOTHING! Last nights walk out after seeing a vixen foraging and not one deer, though I was honked 100 yards from my truck twice, quite close in the dark too as i made my way out in cloudy moonlight.Nothing! Yesterday morning at daybreak "just looking" I surprisingly saw a hind/calf combo but a few hundred yards away a bloody good stag was making his way super slowly up into the heavy stuff,he stopped under a flowering blackwood for a while and there were wisps of stratified fog that stuffed my pic opp`s.I forgot that I had my doubler for my 10x Swaro`s in my pocket..dumb arse!
He turned his head and I caught long white tips in the early light...##########*********######### is what I said of course! He`s a 'good `un"
Now I have to drench a mob of cattle, bah!

Here`s a few of those pics that I sent Staffan, its not easy getting in amongst sambar in black berries as the the thorny canes snag everything that's worn and a straight line is impossible.Late in the day hurts too.
