L'Atelier Verney-Carron's VINTAGE SAFARI bolt action rifle
      #189111 - 02/09/11 10:00 PM

Even though ALL RIFLES and SHOTGUNS from L'Atelier Verney-Carron are bespoke guns since L'Atelier Verney-Carron is the bespoke workshop (where every gun is made according to unique wishes and morphology requirements by our artisan workers) of the "production guns" manufacturer Verney-Carron, some guns are above our normal run of bespokes:

This bolt action rifle, Mauser 98 Magnum system "Vintage Safari" from L'Atelier Verney-Carron is a excellent example of the artisan work in making a bespoke firearm according to the customer wishes and its morphology for a perfect match between the hunter and his firearm both in hunting action or for his viewing pleasure ...

Those pictures can be seen in our "Custom & bespoke guns" Facebook I Gallery starting with THIS PICTURE and next ones...

But here they are also :

Enjoy !

Chacun à son goût, but I don't believe stock carving, gold inlays and fish scale checkering have their place on a serious rifle.

Serious work of art but agree Xausa, best, Mike

As you said xausa, "chacun son goût".

I believe we Europeans, see hunting guns as piece of art that can be used in the field.
Even our Verney-Carron's "production guns" needs to attract the customers first with their aesthetic values before their mechanical and use values.

So when a European customer that can pay for it ask for a bespoke gun from L'Atelier Verney-Carron, he wants a piece of art that he can hunt with (and in that case he did, since as soon as the gun was ready, he went to try it in Namibia).

As I said : "(...) a perfect match between the hunter and his firearm both in hunting action or for his viewing pleasure ..."

VC

It's interesting what xausa said and the different perspectives from different countries.

Your response included "bespoke gun". I have often said when looking at oddish english guns that the British makers make whatever a customer asks for, becasue they are I the business of making guns, NOT dictating style to a customer.

Very well executed in a subdued Continental matter. It will sell.

What an interesting and beautiful rifle.

Is it built on Prechtls Magnum Mauser action?

The good photography really shows the exquisite detail of the carving. Very nice. And the engraving is to the usual excellent standard. A real work of art for the wood panelled gun room to be admired and also occasionally used in the field as well.

The L'Atelier Verney-Carron Vintage Safari rifle looks like a "real" rifle too with excellent lines.

VC, thanks for posting.

much more work goes into this gun than the average prewar rigby ,,,which is what most rigbys are,,average, yet very functional ,,this is a beautiful rifle and the stock carving is tastefully done and the sights are set up for business ,,,very nice...paul
