Greetings - Can someone tell me if there is a substantive difference between the two commonly seen 1909 Argentine actions (DWM and FMAP) as concerns building the action into a high end traditional sporting rifle? The DWM actions seem to bring a higher price, but is there any down side to the FMAP actions?
It's my understanding that the FMAP actions were made in Argentina...is that correct? (DWM of course made in Germany.)
If it is considered that only a total of 19.072 were produced (starting 1947) in Argentina , you may or may not find the traces of difficulties in every start of a production line.
As a consequence of that relatively low number is that there is not such a widespread experience with these actions.
The specimen I could inspect showed a lower quality of finish and the sign of intensive use.
So I would hesitate to invest a lot of money in a rifle project on that base.
That will not say that I can judge f.e. the quality of steel. Maybe better, equal or worser than the DWM manufactured 1909
