Personally I would start with a 26 inch bbl. You can always cut it back. But the muzzle blast at 18 inches may blow out your ear drums and burn the hair off your head.

So what's the real recoil in ft/lbs of a 600 OK with a muzzle brake? Doesn't the muzzle brake reduce the recoil (to the shooter) by about 50%? I've shot a 50 BMG Barrett with a muzzle brake (it weighs a ton) and it kicked about like a 7 1/2 lb 300 Win Mag. I've seen the YouTube of the 600 OK with and without brake and there's no way I would shoot one without one.

True. The only problem is that this rifle will be iron sights only, so a bit harder to cut down once it's built.

Could you share these links, I don't think I have seen one without a muzzle break. I have no plans to put a muzzle break on mine, but I would like to see the difference.

There are muzzlebrakes and there are muzzlebrakes, just as there different levels in loads.

I think we have to look at the purpose behind this build, which in this case is to build a "challenge gun". It is not for hunting or some competition event but the challenge to test the owner and his friends. In that context there is no point in a brake. All the brake does is muddy the water as to what exactly the shooter has accomplished. No brake, the calculator can be used to get a reasonable accurate recoil figure. Recoil can be adjusted up or down by the ammo. Its really a very simple idea.

Thank you for putting this so succinctly.
