Elk hunting trip around the corner
      #18634 - 30/08/04 03:24 AM

I leave for my self guided archery elk hunting trip this coming Thursday. I will pack 11 miles into the Weminuche Wilderness of South Western Colorado Friday morning September 3rd. My buddy & I wil spend the first evening glassing the distant ridges from 11,500' trying to locate a couple of good bulls. I will be hunting through Saturday September 11th & fly home Sunday the 12th. Hopefully with a good bull in tow!!! Either way I am sure I'll have a great time & have plenty of pictures & stories to share when I get back. Hopefully I can get a better one than teh bull I dropped there 2 years ago.

Achery hunting elk is a great way to start the 2004 hunting season. Just 2 weeks after I return I'll be able to hunt local whitetails. What a great time of the year

That's going to be a tough bull to beat! Good luck and take a ton of photos!

Pity he didn't wash his face before the photo. The dirty bugger.

PS That's a tree he is holding onto. A wonderful trophy.

So, how was the trip? The country is really filling up around here with hunters. Be glad when a few go home and we can get out and hunt a bit.

The trip was fantastic.........BUT, No bull this year I had shots at a few small bulls early in the hunt, but I really wanted one of the big boys we were seeing. A friend of mine had a bighorn tag & took a real nice ram (With a 270) And I ran into a WHOPPER of a mulie........but I did not have a Tag

I'll be back again next year Those mountains are to spectacular to miss
