Sorry, I mean on the side of the stock, not the action.

It is very similar to a Greener side safety on their shotguns.

500Nitro: The Greener side safety was available as a factory option on Oberndorf sporters. These safeties as well as claw mounts were also period installed by the owners.

Thanks

You learn something new every day.

I have never ever seen one on a Bolt Action Mauser before- or any Bolt action actually.

Must have a look at Speed's book on Mausers and see what he says.

So how does it work considering you have the normal Mauser type Safety on the bolt ?

.

Can you list the loads that have worked best with this rifle?
I have one that is similar, and I'd like to hear what's worked for you.

Cheers

a additional greener safety as a stalking safety is not uncommon on german bolt action rifle's. you can see it on mauser sporting rifle's made from the beginning of the last century up into the 1960s and 70s.
