Well true to my form (love of Brno's) I purchased an unfired 1982 Brno ZKK 602,375H&H from a member of another forum. I sent it to Daryl Stevens who has built all my other stocks for me to have it tarted up.
He fitted an "old English" recoil pad, stripped the varnish off it and oil finished it for me. Two cross bolts were fitted, bedded and floated as well as touch up the checkering.
I originally bought this rifle to build a 500 Jeffery but we will see.I like it so much as it is.
Anyway here is a photo.

Very nice Neal, it has a beautiful piece of timber and looks a million dollars with the oil finish. The Leupold finishes it off nicely so it should give the local pig population a heartache or three.
Cheers Mate,

Thanks fellas.
Mike, that is the "single set trigger" that they came with. you can push it forward to set it or just pull it as it is which is quiet heavy.
They also came with a "standard" type trigger as well but this one had been lost unfortunately.
Tony Small made a trigger for my 404 and still has the pattern so if I keep it as a 375 I may have one made.
Other things I would like to do is fit a barrel band sling swivel, quick detachable sling swivel base to the butt, straighten the bolt handle and shorten the barrel to 24" but that's a way away as I still have an 8x68s to pay for when completed. It is in the white and awaiting Daryl's return from the Nationals (shotgun).

Fatboy An alternative to fitting a Barrel Band, which although nice can be a bit of work, is to fit flush cup sling swivels tot he front and rear so when you remove the sling, you remove the obstruction as well.
Just a thought.

Nice looking rifle Neale. Good bit of timber on it. I like the way the fore end is trimed down and not a blocky as the current CZ550's. I agree everyone should have at least one 375 H&H.
Cheers

Fatboy - your BRNO looks great! I sure liked mine - had similar grain structure to yours. I used it with the pop-up peep sight for 3 position competition with cast bullets back in '73 when I first started that game. The unset trigger 'broke' at exactly 3 pounds, which was the mimimum pull for 3-position at that time by the rules. It shot 1" prone groups with 23gr. 7625 and gas checked, RCBS 50/50 lubed Lyman 270gr. bullet - 100 yards. In other words it would stay inside the 10 ring prone, prone.
A fine rifle.

My .375 has the usual sling swivel stud and I have never found it a problem with this calibre.
Your rifle looks quite nice. A good improvement on the standard CZ.

Neale,
I'm not sure if it was your 8mm or another rifle Tony was working on, but he had cut out the top 40 % of the barrel band and then 'rounded' the sides. It looked like it had been clipped on. It looked very custom.

My 8mm has a sling swivel "block" sweated on under the barrel instead of the band as it will not have open sights and I wanted it a little more petite but with the sling on the barrel, not the forend.

Looks really good Neale! The old 375 Mag is such a great cartridge, I can understand how you would like to keep it that caliber. Of course a 500 Jeff would be awesome to own too. Decisions decisions! Would love to see some close up photos if you get a chance.

You have been holding out on me Afro !!!.That would have been nice on my 8x68.
I have shot a few animals with it(three foxes and a cat) but I took it to the BGR club today and was impressed. It seems "fast" I loaded 80 grains of 2209 behind a 300 grain Hornady for 2726 fps (WOW)that same load in my old CZ got 2660 fps.The primer still had nice rolled edges and bolt lift was fine. I have settled on 75 grains of 2209 with the 300 grainers for 2560 fps.
At 100 yards with my 1.5-5 Leupold,I fired two shots with 77 grains, two with 75 grains and one 300 grain RWS factory load for a group of about 4".

Sorry Homer. I remember reading it on here and thought it was a good title. Are there royalties involved ?.
The good news is thanks to 450Ackley and Jim Kent I now have a standard trigger for the 375H&H as well.

Oh my that is very pretty to think factories used to make guns like this!
Well done Neale, I'd keep it as a 375 and find another for a 500J seems to nice to tamper with and this way well... you can never have too many rifles!

MOG
