Thanx Christer for posting the article for me.

Sorry for the quality but if I had scanned it with better quality it would have been to big in file size as it is already over 100 kb.

I pray that there are still viable numbers of this magnificient animal living. My biggest concern is this concentration of the gene pool: too much inbreeding if you know what I mean. A lot of authorities are convinced that this in one of the problems leading to falling numbers of Cheetah. You know, brothers mating with sisters. Kind of like Arkansas.

Mike,
Don't believe every thing they tell you about cheetahs. There is a lot of farmers here in South Africa that have big problems with cheetahs. They kill alot of the domestic animals, sheep, goats etc and their numbers arent really that low. They've been seen in areas here where they havent been before.

BigFive is right. When we were hunting together there were a couple of marauding cheetahs on the farm or on nearby farms.

We we told we could shoot them if we saw them but couldn't keep any part as trophies.

I thought great, what if BigFive and I could take a brace of cheetah but the probability of being in the right place at the right time beat us. Nevertheless some spots screamed in a sixth sense "cats" to me and out of four incidents of this we came across leopard tracks nearby twice - not bad a 50% strike rate. Don't forget to listen to the "inner voice", even if its only probability you have to be lucky sometime.
