Almost all bullets intended for 375H&H are very good. I'm sure any would work provided not loaded to faster than recommended.

260 grain Partition
250 grain Bitterroot bonded core
250 grain Ttsx
260 grain Accubond

I don't have a .375H&H.

I voted other. ie a 300grain. ( Just to be niggly and contrary.)

Why use a .375H&H if you don't use a 300 ? You may as well use a .30-06 and a 180.

I used the 300 grain Swift A-Frame in the .375 Ruger. It performed flawlessly on wildebeast, zebra, kudu, warthog, and impala. I would not have wanted to be wandering around the Zambezi Valley with anything lesser. I would have been able to take my buffalo and hippo without a problem in the unlikely event my M77 in .458 lott failed. I used the 500 grain A-Frame for the first shot on my buffalo. I am a beleiver in the A-Frame! Used Hornady solids after that.

I usually just use the Woodleigh 300 gr Weldcore on everything.

Whiel the Barnes would certainly do the job, so too would the 260 grain Nosler, and 300 grain Hornady but what I actually used was a 300 grain Swift A frame.

I'm shooting the .376 Steyr which comes with the 225 & 270 Hornady Interlock, neither a premium bullet. The 250 grain weight is nearly ideal from a ballistic POV.

The Swift A-Frame seems to be popular and comes in 250 grains. That's it, the 250 A-Frame at 2650 fps and well under 50k psi.

If I was going strictly for plains game with no chance of dangerous game I would stoke my .375 with the plain old Sierra 250 gr BTSP. I get good accuracy & I like how it performs.

On my last plains game hunt I used the 270 grain Barnes tsx. I used it on everything including a 1 shot kill on an old giraffe bull.

I voted the 270 TSX but would prefer the 300 TSX. I've used that bullet extensively on PG and DG. The Swift is a good bullet as well. The Swift and Barnes both perform well in the retained weight category but I prefer the jagged and sharp petals spinning and cutting along the wound channel than the Swift's smooth, almost "ball" type appearance as it mushrooms!

Here is a picture of a 350gr. TSX from my 416 Rigby that I used on a Buffalo at close range. I think you can see how nasty that bullet would be spinning with those jagged edges. I've got a 300 TSX from a Sable that I'll try to get a pic posted of as well.

Here are some other TSX bullets recovered from game.

From L to R:

1) 570gr TSX from 500NE recovered from Giraffe Bull
2) 350gr TSX from 416 Rigby recovered from Cape Buffalo Bull
3) 300gr TSX from 375H&H recovered from Brown Bear
4) 300gr TSX from 375H&H recovered from Sable
5) 225gr X from 340WBY recovered from Elk

All are within 2 or 3 grains of original weight.

Woodleigh 300gr RN SN.

USe it all the time and know how/where it shoots.

Made the mistake of trying for a lighter faster projie for Namibia in 2005 and used a Woodleigh 270 PP. Didn't get the penetration on a fast departing wounded eland that I would have got with the 300gr.

You have to love the Barnes TSX with those petals and I agree with you, great weight retention. I use the 270gn and 300gn in the .375H&H and 180gn in the 30.06

Cheers for now,

Jeff Gray

bonanza;

I've used the 225 Horn {resized to 9.3 cal} and the 270 Horn {in .375 Mag and resized to 9.3 cal} on a variety of game; WT deer, impala, zebra and a wolf-crazed-wild steer and they work great. If your .375 likes the 225 Hornady, I think it is a real winner. I haven't found a super load for my .375 yet, tho the old barrel is working on 3000 rounds so I'm not sure if that is going to happen.

I've also used the 300 Hornady RN on elk, WT deer and a big blue wildebeest and other smaller stuff and it, too is a great bullet for such.

There is a thing called the International Date Line (- not meant to offend just taking the piss/mickey) and it does cause a fair bit of confusion in some places.

I would like to try some of the GS Custom pills, in the 260 grain area, as they are African and where Barnes susposedly got his idea for his bullets from. For my education does anybody know if this is true or not. Don't want to Hi-Jack the thread too much.

I settled on the 270 grain Swift A-Frame. The bullet performed perfectly on a very large Eland.

If you can't get the Federal Premium Cape Shock in 300 gr., than I guess you can settle for Hornady.
