Photographs of Your Favorite Big Bore Rifle
      #17662 - 07/08/04 05:15 AM

Fellows,

I was wondering if some of you could post nice photographs of your favorite big bore rifle. I am particularly fond of good bolt rifles. I know that I love to look at beautiful firearms and would love to see some that have been written about on this board.

Cheers
Trex

Sorry Trex, although you're fond of bolt-guns, my favourite big-bores are doubles. Unfortunately, most of them still belong to other people!!

Long-time posters have seen this before, but a couple of pics of my .577 Light Nitro can be viewed here:
http://www.hotkey.net.au/~orrs/GreenerStory.htm
...and my 20-bore/.577 can be viewed here:
http://www.australianhunting.net/library/oneoftheharderones.html

I, too, await cool pics of other posters' hardware.

Here is a picture of the favorite I have in my gun case. It is an Interarms Mark X in .375 H&H.

Man, that Brno is a beauty, as are the others posted here! And now for something completely different:

This is a Swinburn Martini marked James Rosier, Melbourne, in .577/.450 of course. Boom!

Thanks for the BRNO compliment. Lon Paul built it, and Doug Turnbull did the case-color work.

Unfortunately, I had to let it go to get the 470 pictured bleow it. But I haven't regretted letting it go.

BTW that's the ONLY custom rifle I've ever gotten my money back on!

safari hunter,
I see you have the "mouse trap" single set trigger fitted.
Do you prefer this trigger to the standard type?
I never liked the mouse trap much.
Years ago I had an early peep sight Brno in 375 which had one fitted.

4seventy,

I have owned my 602 for 8 and a half years and it was my first and only centerfire rifle until I bought a BRNO 600 7x57 a few months ago.

I prefer the "look" of a standard trigger but the BRNO's trigger works well for me.

Mine's just a plain old out-of-the-box Ruger RSM M77/MkIII in .375 H&H but it's my all-time favorite rifle already even though I haven't had it that long. It's a tack-driver and a joy to shoot - recoil is no big deal at all really - but with power to spare for all my hunting needs. It really is the ultimate all-around rifle and the more I learn about it and see the more true that becomes. It'll get the job done anywhere on any game and I like that!

I think Ruger has done a fantastic job in building a fine semi-custom rifle considering it's a factory item. I believe they only put out about 120 or so of these rifles per year, so it's far from a production line item.

Yo Dude

I'm glad you're completely satisfied with your Ruger RSM in 375 H&H. Since I'm not an __________ anything purist, I've found that my Rugers have been a complete joy to own and shoot. As I've mentioned before, it's hard not to get a decent stick on them. Everytime I show up with my Rugers, some of these dudes get woodies because of the stick and the nice triggers I've got on mine. I haven't had the time to do some accurate reloads but that'll come in time.
