OK. We've got a thread running on the most beautiful plains game. What about the ugliest? My vote goes to the Black Wildebeest and Warthog.

I'm not too fond of the Hartebeests looks myself. It's something to do with the overly long, narrow head, and odd top of the skull where the horns protrude from... I've pasted up shooting a few simply because they held no intrest for me.
The Warthog on the other hand is so strange that I find it actually cute. In fact, my wife and I have hung my Warthog shoulder mount up in our baby daughters room! Best that she gets used to stuff like that from day 1!

The most ugly are the guys posed with their plainsgame. Damn, there ought to be photo police to filter some of these hunting pics.
It is kind of interesting to see guys that I never would have guessed looked like that from their posts. Ugly! Whew!
Hunters must be the most conceited people around. My walls are covered with pictures of myself!

ErikD-Hartebeest were next on my ugly list. In fact, on my first safari, my P.H. got mad at me because I wouldn't shoot a Gold Medal Hartebeest. I told him it was just too damn ugly to waste a bullet on.

I was thinking the Hartbeast as well. OK the warthog is not real pretty but its looks are appealing. But the Hartbeast just doesnt look right. I know I can get them faily cheap on a lot of hunting packages but I wouldnt realy want their ugly mug mounted on my wall. I still want a warthog and Wilderbeast though.

Mike,
I think I know which picture Bill is referring to. It's the one on some AR posts where you see a guy with sunglasses kneeling next to en elephant in a light bluish shirt with cut off sleeves! That guy is just butt ugly! It's one of those faces where you biggin to wonder if it's an idea to use "Net Nanny" or a simular program to avoid veiws like that popping up!

ps. You know I'm only joking Bill!

Yeah, Hartebeast gets my vote too. I was reading one Safari guide and I just couldn't get why the writen kept talking about "the beauty of the hartebeast trophy" they just don't do anything for me...

My vote would go for the red hartebeest also. The only reason i shot one was because it was a gold medal and my PH insisted that i shoot it.

Come to think of it, I doubt the Tsessebee will win any beauty contests either, nor will the Bush Pig.

Overall, the black wildebeest is the ugliest, IMO, followed closely by the hartebeests for their horselike countenances.

I think those long necked Gureks/Guerks (spelling? You know what I mean )are ugly. They just look wrong.

Bakes,
I have too admit that when I had only seen them on pictures, I also thought they were wierd. But then when I saw them for real, out in the bush, my opinion changed as they were very gracefull and almost kind of regal. Pictures just didn't so them justice IMO.
