Dorleac Small Ring Mauser in 7x64 Brenneke
      #174850 - 05/02/11 03:10 AM

Some pictures here of a "Slim Rifle" built by my friend Joel Dorleac in 7x64 Brenneke.

In Joel's description:

Hi Mehul,

Four pictures from a very special 7x64 Brenneke light rifle we have built on much modified small ring 98’ Mauser action.

The 1909 magazine height was 1/2” reduced but still hold 4 rounds.

We have to make a new trigger mechanism and the rifle was stocked in a blend of continental style with Scottish accents.

The scope is a Swarovski Z6 1,7-10x42 on hand fitted claw mounts and the whole assy weights just under 7 1/2lbs.

Bien cordialement.

Tell me I am wrong (and why) but my first thought was that the forend tip was disproportionately long.

It's a "French hood" vs "Anglaise capote" thing.

Or as Alex Henry's forends implied "short and thick does the trick".

Von Gruff,

Its what the buyer commissioned.

Must be a dull day for the resident turd to drop in here. I'll take that back - an unburied carcass waiting to be disposed of has nothing to do but stink.

Reminds me strongly to the lightweight rifles build by the German riflemaker Kessler , who developped that type and the necessary lower trigger 10 years ago.

Dorleac makes some beautiful guns, including the specimen above.
