Pre war barrel band sling eye size?

Steve Button is ready to make our barrel band sling/eyes but he needs to know the diamiter of the eye hole.

The are to be able to use the leather thong type slings. These are Pre War style British rifles. They would be similar to Mauser type A rifle barrel bands also I believe.

I was thinking I remembered them being 3/16"?

I should have pics of them to post later this week.

Allen, just measured my 1913 H&H Magnum and it was somewhere around 0.21 - 0.22". Close to your estimate, about 7/32. Rear was slightly smaller, nearly 0.2".

Allen,
measured a Mauser Type B US .30 caliber and the loop dia. is .114 this rifle was made in 1922-23.

also on a WJ Jeffery pre-war M-S 6.5mm the eye hole fit a #22 drill rod = .1570

Thanks guys.
Steve is going to go with a hole just under .022".

He was polishing Heather's 8x57 action till about 9:30 pm last night!
