Type B 7x57 with Lyman 35 sight
      #173445 - 20/12/10 09:32 AM

Here are some shots of a Type B I have. I bought the rifle several years ago without noticing it had been cut for a Lyman 35. I finally found a Lyman 35 thanks to one of the members here.

Isn't that a Type C?
Either way, a great looking rifle in a great chambering. Excellent gun!

I haven't shot it yet - been waiting for the Lyman 35 to help my middle aged eyes - but will take it out for some shooting after Christmas and let you know. I hope it will shoot into 1.5 to 2" at 100 yds with the Lyman.

Thanks to all for the comments.

That stock is virtually identical to the Oberndorf 9.3x62's stock I lost in a divorce settlement - no - not mine.

Now that's an interesting statement. Several interpretations come to mind.

My assumption that this is a TypeC was clearly premature!
A couple things I should have noticed on this gun are the smoothe taper to the barrel - the Type Cs have a step in the barrel out past the for end like a military barrel.
The flat panels on the stock under the rear bridge are not as would be on a typeC and only on the early TypeBs if I am not mistaken.
The military floor plate and lack of a set trigger threw me a bit too, but the Bs could be had with any floor plate release desired although most had a lever i would suspect and a DST or not.
The grip could be had as a pistol grip with a cap or a rounded grip as this one has.
Any statements above may be totally false...heh,heh,heh.

Man, there is a lot to know about these original Oberndorf Mausers! And this one is a beauty!
