Check out lot 1118 in Holts of London auction catalogue for their december auction. Looks to have some interesting and potentially rare (?) features - special order side safety and a folding flip up peep sight in the hand of the stock.
Your absolutely right, loads of great features. If this Mauser could be had for the estimate, it would be a deal. Too bad about the recoil pad, but it's correctable.
No question that it's a great rifle with all the desirable stuff (solid left receiver wall, DSB, side safety, original mauser scope mounts, special order peep sight, special front sight cover) and in a great caliber, but I'd like it better without the fold down peep sight. It has to be uncomfortable to shoot with that sight folded down.
