A couple pic's from a Trout trip to NZ a few years back

I dug up some picture from a NZ, North Island trout& Sika trip in march, 2000.







Looking a little scruffy after about eight days.

Our party Choppered in with provisions for ten days of Stalking and Trout Fly Fishing.
We paired up and carried two rods. One a #5 weight with a Cicada paten for the big browns in the deep quite emerald pools and a #6 rod for the windy headwater rapids for Rainbows with a large Royal Wolf as an indicator above a Hair&Copper Nymph.

Don't get me started about the Sika country Adam - I just love it . To come up with a high scoring head out of the public areas has to rate amongst the finest of trophies . And then wonderful fish like these as well - makes you want to pack the bags !!

Not far from Poranui mate.
No luck on the Sika.
And feel like packing bags for the river? HELL YES!!!

Yes please, we need to see the Sika.

The first ever deer hunt I considered was in 1982 when still at school. I was going to book a hunt with Sika Safaris but never did. Pity, but would have been very green.

Something to do maybe 30 years later soon I think.

Looks like Upper Mohaka to me. Big deep pool by a rocky outcrop?

Nice pictures and fantastic chunky browns and a lovely rainbow.

The fly rod is the best way to catch them.
