Has anyone used the Kahles Helia CSX scopes?

Has anyone used the Kahles Helia CSX scopes on their heavy kicking rifles?

What did you think about them or experience?

I've been looking for good quality low powered variable scopes in around 1-4.5x and 1.5-6x in Zeiss, Schmidt and Bender, Swarovski, etc

Preferred a reticle in the focal plane 2 so the reticle does not appear to change in size.

Had a play with some in the last week or two, and sort of came around to accepting a reticle in plane 1.

Then remembered Kahles and the Kahles Helia CSX range has the reticle in plane 2.

What do you think about them?

I've used RULE303's on his CZ .416 Rigby. They are quite a heavy scope but clear as crystal.

Used 1.5-6x42 helia csx on my combination gun in 7x65r and 12ga.A friend of mine now has the same model mounted on his blaser r93 9.3x62 rifle.Superb rifle scope. In the same league with zeiss ,swaro and schmidt und bender. If you are thinking about buying an Kahles scope my advice is - Don`t hesitate and do it.
One more word of advice - Go for a model with rail mount(a true european classic)and an illuminated reticle.

p.s. Kahles is one of the first optics companies to start building rifle scopes.
Some years ago some Austrian found in the austrian alps an 90+ year old kahles scope burried in the snow.It was in mint condition.I was told that this scope is now in the Kahles factory museum.

It was only a 30+ year old scope The optics are supposedly mint internally, the tube aint so flash on the outside...

And having run a 1.1-4x24 Helia C on my .375H&H I second your comments about being a superb scope, it just annoys me that they've dropped the #1 reticle from the line up and shifted away from 1st image plane scope in the last 5 years

I also have a Kahles 1 to 4 on a Sako 85 375 H&H. I love it.
Also have Kahles 1.5 to 6 on a Brno 602 in 375H&H, and on a Rem 700 in 300 win mag. and a 4 power on a 9.3 x 62. They are as good as my Zeiss Victory and S&B scopes.

Looking for such low power ranges, John, are you intending the scope for dangerous game? When I was a boy reticle movement was the high ground there because of the blending of fields and bigger picture owing to the lack of the image-movement type's field stop.

I haven't used the CSX but have been very happy with the Helia 27 on a .338 - my main sambar outfit for 30 years.

I'm looking for scopes for a number of rifles. Probably can't buy the number I need!
