This thread is interesting in that it demonstrates there are varieties of Englishes, each with their own etymology.

Being a German with but a limited command of the variations of the English language, especially when it comes to guns and hunting, I always thought "rouge" is sort of a paint used mostly by ladies or, as "jeweller's rouge", some stuff used for polishing. Up until now I thought an elephant gone berserk is called a "rogue"?

If your "command of the variations of the English language" is "limited", then I am unable to think of an apt adjective to describe the contributions of the other members of this forum.
