Had the Kiwi mate over for a week or so and he took this young hind after 4 days for his first sambar.He used my 7mm RM
Five stags were seen and all except one beat us and that one was videoed as the Kiwi passed it up,he thought it was a lot shorter in the poor light despite urging that it was a lot better and imo it would have started him off as a sambar hunter as on reviewing the vid the stag may go a 25,perfectly respectable for a first stag of a tough species.
We were joined by another mate later in the week and around 20 sambar were sighted after a lot of bush bashing.

Descent sized animal - good eating, I'll bet. She's about the same size as a male mose calf (6 month old) - but with finer bones and more meat.

Yes D she is both excellent and unusual in the amount of fat in her body cavity..sweet as meat on this young hind.
