"Paradox" the long awaited book
      #168517 - 26/09/10 02:48 PM

Roger Lake's book, 12 long years researched, on the Holland paradox gun is now available. There is a website www.paradox-horsley.com and you can order from there. I am told Graeme Wright will have copies for sale in Oz. It is a good read and well written. It is the first of 2 volumes, the second devoted to the other makers of rifled choke guns, Westley in particular.

I received mine today and it certainly looks good! Only had a quick glance so far - will have to wait for the w/e to start reading. From a first glance, the first few chapters cover Fosberry and his various patents leading up to the paradox. The majority of the book looks at Holland & Holland and its paradox guns plus the odd snippet about bore rifles and paradox guns from other makers. Chapters on 12, 8, 10, 16, 20 and 28 bore paradox guns. Should be a good read!

Spoke to Graham Wright today and NE is ordering a quantity of the Paradox book for NE members. Post on this thread, or PM me with the title Paradox if you want a copy reserved for you.

More information very soon.

Gatsby
Got mine yesterday. Good read. Lots of information with particular attentions to individual gauges. Seeing this assembled knowledge available is a thing of beauty.

In speaking with Patrick Murphy at Holland in London this week, he said they have the books available.

Is this the competitors version - WR Explora etc., or an update on H&H?

Roger Lake said there was a second book in the works. I believe it is the "competitors" Book, covering paradox style and Ball & Shot guns, and accesories, by makers other than H&H. I recall him saying that the first book was not selling well, so it could be a long time.
