50 BMG Falling block
      #167782 - 15/09/10 12:34 PM

Now there's a 50 BMG I would own!

Not a fan of the pistol grip, but the rest gets me.

I searched, couldn't find it posted yet.

Not everyones cup of tea that's for sure.

And the underlever is there only to cock the firing pin?

A very nicely made rifle even if the aesthetics are not entirely classical. Sadly, the gunmaker is deceased - it would be interesting to find out if he built any other rifles.

Interesting piece. There's something in this world for every man.

On par with the wacko bolt action double rifle.

Maybe the piece is a solution looking for a problem.

The spirit level would be to prevent cant, a problem in very long shots, I believe.

There's something enticingly techno-retro about it but I don't think I'd like to put my eye behind an aperture sight hinged unyieldingly over top of the comb.

Especially as it looks like it doesn't have a muzzle brake, might be a bit rough to shoot.

I don't think the stock is going to hold up for long with those narrow pieces attaching the stock to the pistol grip!

I believe the narrow pieces are metal and the wood part of the butt stock is an insert.

The workmanship and fine detail is very well done - however!

As a practical piece- it isn't. Too many things wrong for a shooting rifle. As an expensive conversational piece - perfect!

I envision sudden death from driving the scope objective lense about 1/2 way through the brain pan on recoil - or perhaps the same fate for shooting with the tang sight. Looks like a Unertal or Lymans scope - not noted for long eye relief, especially on varmint/target scopes.

There's no recoil spring on that Unertl scope and it's stationed on the front stop ring without a recoil spring. That's strictly for the pictures I'm sure.
